He isn't some mustache-twirling villain, he's fully capable of working with you if you play your cards right. Yeah, what he does is wrong, his ideals lead to a world where the strong crush the weak, but Gustadolph is a revolutionary who genuinely treats people fairly, takes down a corrupt kingdom and combats a nationwide cult. You're missing out on pretty much all the nuance of these characters, Gustadolph included. So what makes him such a compelling villain in Triangle Strategy? Such acts disgusted not only Serenoa, Roland, Frederica, Benedict, and Cordelia, but also ones from Aesfrost like General Avlora and his uncle Svarog, one who did not like hearing about Dragan’s death the most. Not caring about the deaths of Thales and Erika seeing them as mere chess pieces for his plans. Killing Dragan so that he can keep the salt crystals for himself and be one of the many villains who use the Roselle people as slaves next to Idore of Hyzante. He is also willing to kill and sacrifice his own siblings and followers who get in this way. Invading the land of Glenbrook and using Cordelia as a puppet.
What was he talking about? Gustadolph is guilty for all of these things! But NOT for killing Dragan! He was the best! I am 100% willing to forgive Gustadolph for invading my country, using his sister as a pawn and deploying weapons of mass destruction.
